Live Action Street Fighter Movie Stars Chun-Li

It’s not the first live action Street Fighter movie and my guess is that it won’t be the last either. Even though it wasn’t the best flick I’ve ever seen, I couldn’t help but watch that other live action Street Fighter movie, the one starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Colonel Guile. They totally f*cked with the storyline (Charlie and Blanka are not the same person) and the depictions of certain characters was totally off. But I watched it anyways, and I’ll watch it again.
For this time around, they’re going to make a movie that focuses on Chun-Li and it will be called Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. And who’s going to get the title role? I guess you already have that figured out from the image above, but for those of you who don’t know, it’s Kristen Kreuk of Smallville fame.
Kreuk is fine as a dramatic actress, but I don’t think anyone buys her as an action star. That’s like convincing me that Gilbert Gottfried would be a great choice to play Master Chief in the rumored Halo movie. OK, Kristen is easier on the eyes than Gilbert, but you get what I mean.
Production on Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak (Doom, Exit Wounds), starts March 2008.
