Naruto PS3 Project Teaser Trailer

Do you the know the difference between a Chidori and a Rasengan? Can you recognize the Konoha Village emblem from a mile away? Then this Naruto teaser trailer should probably elicit some sort of excitement.

I’m not entirely sure if this is going to be a strict fighting game like the Naruto: Clash of Ninja series found on the GameCube, but there will definitely be a significant fighting game element to the Naruto PS3 Project depicted in the video above. Obviously, “PS3 Project” isn’t going to be the final name for the game, so it will be interesting what kind of shinobi slant they’re going to give to this addition to the Naruto franchise.

One thing that I do find interesting is that the Naruto PS3 Project will not encompass just a single story arc like so many other offerings based on anime series. Instead, the project is “based off of the popular Naruto anime series and will follow the story from the beginning to the Sasuke Retrieval Arc.” That’s a lot of episodes to cram into a single video game, and I ultimately think that this will make for far too much compression and a severe lack of depth. Oh well, so long as I get to play as Gaara, I’m happy. Please let me play as Gaara.

Current plans call for a 2008 release in Japan “with a US release to follow.”
