Retro Gaming: Street Fighter II Glitches Video
Everyone knows just how awesome Street Fighter II is and that’s why Street Fighter: The Later Years is so popular and why everyone can’t wait for Street Fighter IV.
Part of what made Street Fighter II so great — and old-school video games in general — was that it was filled will all sorts of glitches and Easter eggs. In the video compilation below, we revisit many of the best-known Street Fighter II glitches, including the infamous Guile’s Handcuffs, Guile’s Freeze, and Guile’s Invisible Throw. Did you know about Dhalsim’s Invisibility and Vega’s flaming barrel trick? Now you do.
Enjoy! Just try to ignore the cheesy background music.

I had always heard about glitches in street fighter 2 but could never pull off the special moves on the arcade machines never mind test the glitches. I guess resetting the game would have annoyed me as it would cost me my pocket money. Were these bugs removed from the later versions i wonder and the home versions too.

Just realised that dhalsim disappears in the original street fighter 2 version. I wonder if this was because he was meant to have his teleportation move originally

No, it was an accidental glitch. Dhalsim’s teleport came in later versions, the first being Hyper Fighting”, because people thought the glitch was a cool concept.
The same is basically true for the whole “combo” concept. The combos that exist in the first SFII were, basically, glitches. The game designers didn’t intend for any hit to “link” to another hit, it was a programming error. It was supposed to be “one and done”, like SF1. If you’re hit, you can instantly block the next hit. But the fact that people figured out how to exploit it to great success led them to see the possibilities in chaining hits, and it was incorporated into later games.

There are a ton of Glitches out there for classic, and new video games. Some of my favorite glitches were in the original versions of Pokemon. There is a whole list of Glitches at http://gamerglitch.com/ though I don’t think there are any Street Fighter 2 Glitches listed there.
