Street Fighter IV Opening Cinematic
OMG. Embedded above is the opening cinematic for the Japanese version of Street Fighter IV and it looks absolutely breathtaking. We get to witness the same “ink splash” style that filled the teaser trailers of the last few months, but the action here is totally epic. There seems to be more of a focus on Chun-Li, possible because of the upcoming Kristen Kreuk movie, but the real highlight has to be the mind-blowing battle between Akuma (Gouki) and Gouken (Sheng Long). Like, whoa.

In related news, we have now learned more details about the alternate costumes in Street Fighter IV, including pricing and release dates for Japan. Each alternate costume DLC pack costs 320 MS Points on the Xbox 360 or 400 Yen on the PS3. On February 12th, you get Zangief, E. Honda, Rufus, Abel, and El Fuerte. On February 19th, you get Chun Li, C. Viper, Sakura, Rose, and Cammy. On February 26th are Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, and Dan. On March 5th, you’ll find Vega, Sagat, Balrog, Bison, and Seth. And on March 12th are Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Gen, and Fei Long. If you can hold out until April 30th, you can buy the complete 25-character pack for 1000 MS Points or 1200 Yen. No word on the American DLC dates yet.
The full list of Xbox 360 Achievements have also been released and there are a whopping 47 of them. They range from setting your title and icon to performing 100 successful Focus Attacks.
Rounding out the Street Fighter news are the first look at Vega in the movie and word that Street Fighter will be invading PlayStation Home. Instead of that random dancing, you can hadouken your online buddy?
Street Fighter News Update - New Year Edition
Shown above is the movie trailer for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, the upcoming live action Street Fighter movie starring Kristen Kreuk as Chun-Li. I didn’t have very high hopes for this movie before and those hopes are brought down even further with this trailer. Did you spot Vega? Without some of the characteristic costumes and styles, The Legend of Chun-Li doesn’t even look like Street Fighter. Jean-Claude Van Damme would be disappointed.
I had the opportunity to play Street Fighter IV the other day and I have to admit that it was pretty darn cool. The art style takes some getting used to, but if you’re a diehard Street Fighter fan like me, you’ll fall into line almost right away. The gameplay is familiar and does away with the parry system from Street Fighter III. The complete roster consists of 25 characters, including Sheng Long, Rose, El Fuerte, and more. Here’s where you can play Street Fighter IV.
Speaking of Street Fighter IV, the new box art has been revealed, including the special editions that’ll come with an anime DVD and a figurine. Xbox 360 owners get Crimson Viper, whereas PS3 gamers get a Ryu figurine.
In addition to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix shattering all sorts of sales records, it seems that Capcom has a few more Street Fighter goodies up its sleeve for us in 2009. The PlayStation Network for the PS3 (and maybe some for the PSP) could see a lot of Street Fighter, including titles from the Street Fighter Alpha series, the Street Fighter Movie game, and even X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Berserker barrage!
The Best Selling Capcom Game of All Time

Capcom has been around for a good number of years and it is home to a lot of fantastic games. From Resident Evil to Onimusha, Duck Tales to Final Fight, Capcom is responsible for a lot of legends. With so many games under its belt, it can be tough deciding which was Capcom’s best of all time. Going strictly by the numbers, however, we see one title that is head and shoulders above all the rest.
The best selling Capcom game of all time also happens to be one of the best fighting games of all time. Capcom’s all-time top seller is none other than the original Street Fighter II. Not Championship Edition, Hyper Fighting, or any number of other variants to SF2.
We’re talking console sales here and not arcade machines. Released in June 1992 for the Super Nintendo (Super Famicom in Japan), Street Fighter II found a happy home in no less than 6.3 million homes, one of which happened to be mine. Coming in at a close third was July 1993’s Street Fighter II Turbo with 4.1 million units sold.
Unfortunately, Street Fighter is not the best selling franchise in the Capcom library. That honor goes to Resident Evil. Mega Man and Street Fighter are the second and third best-selling series in the Capcom family, respectively. For more lifetime sale stats, check out this post on Kotaku.
