Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe: Every Fatality Video

When I first heard about Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, I thought it would be fun to decapitate Batman. Then, I learned that the fighting game mashup would only get a T for Teen rating, so the fatalities would be significantly toned down. As you can see from the video collection above, the fatalities may appear to be quite brutal, but they are nowhere near as gory as previous Mortal Kombat games.

Because Superman and other DC good guys aren’t supposed to around killing people, they don’t even get fatalities. Instead, they perform “heroic brutalities” and I think this is possibly the lamest thing ever. It’s just not in touch with what Mortal Kombat fans want. Ed Boon thinks that the DC mashup moves the franchise into new and exciting territory, but the resulting Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, for me, is remarkably disappointing. Sigh.

Killer Instinct 3

Killer Instinct 3

Although most of us think of Mortal Kombat fatalities when it comes to intense fighting game violence, there was another title that existed in quarter-swallowing arcades during the same era. Killer Instinct was one remarkably awesome fighting game, offering a ludicrous combo system and the ability to pit a velociraptor against a ballistic skeletal pirate. How awesome is that?

It turns out that Rare could be resurrecting the fighting game franchise and the new title will be called Killer Instinct 3D: Death, Destruction and Doom. We imagine that the we will still be treated to characters like Glacius and Cinder. And let’s not forget about the delightful cyclops ogre known as Eyedol. Just as before, Killer Instinct 3 will likely feature a full 3D engine and the violence will definitely be over the top. This rumor comes fresh from EGM’s Quartermann.

Among the other features that we should expect in this rumored sequel are “finishing moves”, 3-player matches, and ancient Killer Instinct art. If Fulgore is in Killer Instinct 3D, you can count me in. Just make sure he has that Robocop-esque fatality No Mercy. Uuuuuullllttttrrrrraaaa cooooommmmmbbbboooo!!!!

Six Minutes of Mortal Kombat Fatalities

It was shocking when we first heard about the convergence of Mortal Kombat and the DC Universe and it was even more shocking when we heard that there would no longer be any fatalities in that so-called Mortal Kombat game. I was just itching at the possibility of tearing out the heart of Batman or decapitating Superman in the most glorious of fashions.

Ed Boon took several steps backwards and then jumped forward to tell us that there would be modified fatalities in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Sorry. Without the removal of limbs, the explosion of craniums, or the consumption of body parts, it’s just not a fatality.

To bid adieu to the legendary fatality, please enjoy the video above that compiles every fatality in the Mortal Kombat franchise. Explosions, electrocutions, and other brutalities await you.
