Akuma Revealed for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution

Akuma Revealed in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution Trailer

This isn’t quite the Tekken X Street Fighter that we’ve been promised from Bandai Namco, but it’s the closest thing we’re going to get for the foreseeable future. And it’s not such a bad thing. A new official trailer video was unleashed upon the world for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution and it reveals a big part of the story for the Tekken universe. Akuma is going to hunting for some devilish Mishima men.

The art style here looks pretty freaking epic and it really could put Street Fighter V to shame. It will be interesting to see how the game balancing handles the new dynamics that a Street Fighter shoto, and especially one as demonic as Akuma (Gouki), to fit within how Tekken normally plays. Will everyone just keep sidestepping fireballs? Can he still do an air fireball? One thing we do know for sure: he’s got the raging demon.

INFILTRATION vs. POONGKO at Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament in Korea (Grand Final)

Didn’t get enough action from EVO 2012? Worry not. There was a special Street Fighter 25th anniversary tournament held in Korea and, not surprisingly, the two world warriors in the Grand Final are two of Korea’s finest. INFILTRATION used his Akuma against Poongko’s Seth in what could possibly be one of the best Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition version 2012 sets in recent memory.

Yes, it was a shaky handheld cam and not a direct feed, but the quality of the fights was astounding. Too bad INFILTRATION couldn’t use his preferred Akuma outfit and colors.

In related news, Capcom is taking pre-orders for a limited edition chess set celebrating the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter. They’re limited production to just 5000 sets worldwide and each will be individually numbered with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Roster includes Ryu & M. Bison (kings), Chun-Li & Juri (queens), Ken, Guile, Balrog & Vega (bishops), E. Honda, Blanka, Rolento & Akuma (knights), Dhalsim, Zangief, Sagat & Seth (rooks), Ryu’s fist & Shadaloo winged skull (pawns).

Pre-order it exclusively through the Capcom Store for $299.95. Expect shipments next month.

Video: How to Kara Raging Demon with Akuma, Oni and Evil Ryu [SSFIV:AE2012]

How to Kara Raging Demon with Akuma, Oni and Evil Ryu [SSFIV:AE2012]

Are you ready for some high level techniques? A video has been posted by Machinima VS about how to do a kara Raging Demon with Oni. The same technique can be applied to Akuma (Gouki) and Evil Ryu as well.

A kara lets you extend the range of a move. You can see this with Oni’s throw or a kara by Sagat for a better Tiger Uppercut.

And yes, you can Raging Demon with this. Part of it has to do with extending the range, effectively popping you a couple spots closer to your opponent in a near-instant fashion. Another part of it, though, is for the sneaky buffer combos and other unique setups. Your foe will never see it coming.

You can kara with F+MP, F+MK, or F+HK. Enter any of these at the same time as you hit LK as part of the demon input. So for example, you can enter the LP LP F, then hit F+LK+MP, then HP to finish it. The two jabs can be buffered during the animation of a normal, further adding to the sneakiness and allowing for some mad setups.

Add this technique to your arsenal of Oni combos, Desk’s Evil Ryu tactics and Daigo’s Akuma/Gouki skills and you can see how embracing the Satsui no Hadou has its benefits.
