Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for Nintendo Wii

IGN reviews Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for the Nintendo Wii, finding that the game plays and looks much the same way as other Guilty Gear XX fighting games — ridiculously fast-paced and stylized — but the Wii controls make this a “much worse game.” They highly recommend that you use a Classic Controller to get virtually the same experience as someone playing this fighting game on the Sony PS2. In the end, they give the Wii a version a paltry 5.9/10.

Let’s face it, the Wii Remote + Nunchuk setup isn’t the most conducive for fighting games. I don’t know if you’ve tried Mortal Kombat Armageddon on the Wii… instead of being intuitive and approachable, the controls are just awkward and stupid. That’s why I play Capcom vs. SNK 2 (GameCube) using an X-Arcade Tankstick Dual Joystick Controller. With the Tankstick, I almost feel compelled to put a quarter up on the screen to call “next.”

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Gameplay Video… with Sonic!

This could be the moment you’ve all been waiting for. As we still anxiously anticipate the arrival of Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Nintendo Wii, here is an actual gameplay video of the awesome fighting game in action. While it’s nice to see Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Samus Aran (from Metroid) duke it out, the most notable entry in the video above is Sonic the Hedgehog. Check him out as he performs his spin attack and, about halfway through the vid, when he powers up and glows all golden-like.

Punch Out’s Little Mac Hits Up Smash Bros. Brawl

little mac from mike tyson’s punch out in super smash bros brawl

The Nintendo Wii isn’t exactly known for being a fighting games hub. Some people might even say that the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl isn’t even really a fighting game, because it doesn’t involved any quarter-circle-forward moves. I beg to differ. There’s a variety of characters, there are combos, and there’s, well, fighting.

We’ve seen the Super Smash Bros. Brawl roster building up for some time now. We already know that Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid will be there. We already know that Mario’s biggest rival, Sonic the Hedgehog, will be there. And now, we going back a full twenty years to Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! from the original Nintendo Entertainment System to fetch the pipsqueak pugilist known as Little Mac! That’s right folks, Little Mac is going to be Super Smash Bros. Brawl!

There’s no sign of his coach, Glass Joe, Piston Honda, or Soda Popinski, nor is there any mention of Little Mac having to wear an ugly pink hoodie as he rides his bike past the Statue of Liberty. Unfortunately, Little Mac isn’t a playable character either. Instead, he’s getting featured as a Assist Trophy. But who am I to complain? Little freakin’ Mac is in Smash Bros! Feel the nostalgia.
