Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is Out!

super street fighter ii turbo hd remix

The day has finally arrived! We first heard about Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix more than a year ago and it was supposed to be ready for public consumption well before today, but hey, better late than never! If you’re ready to relive some of the greatest fighting game moments from the 90s but in glorious re-imagined high-definition graphics and with some nifty gameplay tweaks, you’ll want to make sure you have the virtual cash kicking around to pick up this title.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (or SSF2THDR for short… an acronym that needs an acronym of its own) is available as of today for the PlayStation 3 via the PSN Store for $14.99. Xbox 360 owners, like myself, will have to wait until tomorrow to find the fighting game with the world’s longest title on Xbox Live Marketplace. It’ll sell there for 1200 Microsoft Points, which is effectively the same price as the PS3 version.

There are supposed to be a few minor tweaks to the game to balance out the gameplay. Some people are saying that Dhalsim has been “nerfed”, whereas Chun-Li gains the improvement of an arching spinning bird kick. You know that upside spinning kick that she does? It’s now an arch to jump over fireballs rather than strictly a horizontal move.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty stoked. It’ll be crazy fun to play online and get schooled by people half my age. If you want to challenge me to a match on Xbox Live, you can find me there with Gamertag HadoukenOnline.

Street Fighter IV: Fei Long and Dan Confirmed

It seems like the roster for Street Fighter IV is going to contain more than Street Fighter II originals and a few fresh faces. Capcom is reaching into other areas of the franchise as well.

There was a report earlier today that the home versions of Street Fighter IV will contain exclusive characters that will not appear in the arcade version of the game. It turns out that at least two of these exclusive fighters have been confirmed. Fighting game enthusiasts will be glad to hear that Fei Long and Dan Hibiki will be joining the cast for Street Fighter IV: Home Edition.

Given that the home versions of Street Fighter IV — destined for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC — will also come with online play, it should be a blast to see how well people will be able to compete using Dan Hibiki against the rest of the formidable Street Fighter IV crew.

Street Fighter IV Consoles Confirmed: Xbox 360, PS3, and PC

Street Fighter IV

Capcom has already provided some indication as to the release date of Street Fighter IV, but that information is largely for the arcade version of the game. When and where will be able to play this highly anticipated fighting game at home? Well, a great tidbit of information has been officially announced.

It has been confirmed that Street Fighter IV will be coming to the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and the Windows PC. The first two were fully expected, given their high processing power and relatively large user bases, but we didn’t expect that Street Fighter IV to make its way to the computer world.

I think it’s for the best that Capcom isn’t bringing this fighting game to the Wii. It just wouldn’t fit, methinks.
