Soulcalibur’s Voldo Just Got Creepier
I thought that Yoshimitsu was one of the creepiest fighting game characters, because he’s the one that breaks into autoerotic behavior to increase his health. Maybe I was wrong. Jumping into Soul Calibur IV, we discover another character that just may be creepier. Voldo is weird enough already, but when he becomes a smooth criminal with Michael Jackson, including some erotic behavior with his twin… well, the video speaks for itself.
5 Creepiest Fighting Game Characters
In the spirit of Halloween, I have compiled a list of the five creepiest characters from the world of fighting video games. There are two rules to this list. First, the character must be playable, but he/she does not have to be immediately playable (i.e., can be a secret or unlockable character). Second, I’m only picking a maximum of one character per fighting game franchise. You will not find two characters from the same fighting universe.
Seeing how you may not completely agree with this list, feel free to nominate some scary, disturbing, or otherwise creepy characters from your favorite fighting games though the comment form at the bottom of this post.
5. Choi Bounge (King of Fighters)

You could say that he is the Mini-Me version of Freddy Krueger… only creepier. The similarities are undeniable, in terms of physical appearances, as Choi from King of Fighters features the same brown hat and spiky claws as his Nightmare on Elm Street counterpart. His move set is particularly disconcerting, largely thanks to the voice acting behind this King of Fighters character.
4. B. Orchid (Killer Instinct)

Sure, this seductress looks innocent and harmless enough, but she has killer boobies. We never really get to see her breasts when she performs her “No Mercy” finishing move in Killer Instinct, but you’ve got to wonder what exactly it is about her bosom that brings the boys to their deaths. Are they remarkably hideous or what?
3. Oro (Street Fighter III)

You can roughly translate “Oro” in Japanese to “WTF” in English and that’s pretty descriptive of what Oro from Street Fighter III is all about. He’s some kind of weird monk character, but he’s all demonic and seems to always be straddling a horse. What’s up with that? *shudder*
2. Meat (Mortal Kombat 4)

I had a hard time singling out just a single character from the Mortal Kombat franchise, because Ed Boon and John Tobias have come up with some fantastic characters over the life of this Midway mainstay. I was thinking about including Sheeva, the only female four-armed beast in the same ilk at Kintaro and Goro, but Meat is definitely a grade creepier. He’s, like, undeveloped flesh without any skin. It doesn’t get any scarier than that, does it?
1. Yoshimitsu (Tekken and Soul Calibur)

Yoshimitsu has taken on quite a few different appearances over his development in both the Tekken and Soul Calibur fighting game franchises from Namco, so it’s not really his outward appearance that is particularly ghastly. It’s all about his move list and his actions. All that spinning around and jumping around on a handstand is creepy enough, but the one move that propelled Yoshimitsu to the top of this list is the one where he sits on the ground cross-legged, thrusting the butt of his sword into his crotch. To make things more disturbing, he recovers life by doing so. Who knew that jerking off (or masochistic genital mutilation, we’re not sure) was a source of eternal life?
Fighting Games News Update - 10/18/08

There’s a lot going on in the world of fighting games, so let’s get down to it.
Street Fighter IV
We’re still not completely sure when Street Fighter IV will come to home consoles, but we do know that Sakura will be in the game. She’s never been quite as good as the hadouken brothers (Ken and Ryu), but it’s good to have a little more gender balance in the game. Other console combatants include Seth, Dan, and Fei Long.
You can check out more screenshots here too, including a pretty epic shot of Ryu and Sheng Long (Gouken).
The console version will be just as good as the arcade version. Videos and pictures confirm this.
To get you in the mood for Street Fighter action, Capcom is putting together an anime movie to coincide with Street Fighter IV. I wonder if Gouken makes an appearance.
Soul Calibur IV
I picked up Soul Calibur IV a short while ago for the Xbox 360 and I’m having a world of a time trying to achieve a winning record on Xbox Live. I particularly hate facing off against the little pipsqueak Jedi master known as Yoda. While I could match his Force powers with The Apprentice, it is good to hear that Darth Vader is coming as DLC. For the PS3 guys, Yoda is going in the other direction as DLC too. They’ll cost 400 MS Points and $5 on the PSN respectively.
King of Fighters XII
Wanna know who’s going to do battle in this SNK fighter? Here’s the list of characters.
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
Looking forward to the day when Scorpion can kick Batman’s ass? Mark your calendars, because Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is coming to home consoles on November 16. I’m not getting it, because I’m just not a fan of combo-based 3D Mortal Kombat.
That said, there is going to be some limited edition cover art that looks totally awesome. Go Alex Ross!
Tekken 6
If the weapon-based combat in Soul Calibur IV isn’t your cup of tea, go bare-fisted with Tekken 6. The latest trailer is shown below. I also found some great screenshots.
