Super Street Fighter IV: New Characters

All of the characters from Street Fighter IV are fully expected to return for Super Street Fighter IV, but who are the new characters? It seems that ten new combatants will be entering the battle of world warrior supremacy and all but one has been officially announced. That said, we think we know who’s number ten too.

So, who are the new characters for Super Street Fighter IV?
- Dee-Jay
- T. Hawk
- Adon
- Guy
- Cody
- Ibuki
- Dudley
- Makoto
- Juri
- Hakan
Female ninja Ibuki, English boxer Dudley, karate chick Makoto come swarming in from Street Fighter III, joining the ranks of those already coming from Super Street Fighter II and Street Fighter Alpha.
We learned about Juri late last year and she’s the Korean tae kwon do expert with some strange energy force similar to Bison’s Psycho Drive.
Who is Hakan, then? We hear that he’s an Iranian oil mogul and he’ll have more wrestling-oriented moves. No official picture has been released of him yet, but there is a teaser of him in the second Super Street Fighter IV video below.
You’ll also soon be playing on the iPhone and on some new arcade sticks too.
All About Super Street Fighter IV (Part 2)

Three months ago, we presented our Super Street Fighter IV FAQ. Not surprisingly, a lot of new stuff has popped up since then. Let’s run through some of the details.
1. When’s the Release Date?
Early estimates had the Super Street Fighter IV launch on March 31, but the official release date has now been announced as April 27, 2010. This is for the Xbox 360 and PS3, both of which should be affordably priced. The PC version will probably come later.
2. Who Are the New Characters?
We’re hearing that there will be ten new characters in all, but we only know six of them for sure: Juri (Korean Tae Kwon Do girl), Deejay, T. Hawk, Guy, Cody, and Adon.

3. What Does the Box Art Look Like?
Like this, at least for the American Xbox 360 version. You get Juri, Ryu and Chun-Li across the top with Adon, Cammy, and Deejay lining the bottom. The Super Street Fighter IV logo goes in the center. The Japanese PS3 version looks better, don’t you think?

4. What Are Some of the New Features?
Each character will have a choice of three costumes, including a Mecha-Zangief, a Bison-inspired Cammy, and a blinged-out Balrog. Each character will also have two ultra moves instead of just one. You can watch this video for a look at some of these. The “smash the car” bonus stage is also making its return.

Of course I do! Check ‘em out.
Fighting Game News - 01/16/10
What’s new in the world of fighting video games? Let’s find out.
Super Street Fighter IV

Three of the new characters joining the roster for Super Street Fighter IV are Cody, Guy, and Adon. If you want to get a sense of what to expect from the trio, check out the GameTrailers videos highlighting their core movesets.
Speaking of Super Street Fighter IV, you can expect some new moves for the game too, including more Ultra Combos. We also learn that Ryu has the Metsu-Shoryuken, an uppercut leading into a powered-up shoryuken. Crimson Viper’s Burning Dance, a fire- and lightning-infused kick-and-chop attack that launches you into the air, sounds pretty hot too.
Based on a leaked screenshot, there will be ten new characters. We already know about Adon, Cody, Guy, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and Juri, but who else are the Super Street Fighter IV new characters? I hear that Ibuki is making an appearance.
However, don’t expect this game to come out in Q1 2010 as originally promised. An investor document (PDF) points toward a “some time in 2010″ launch for Super Street Fighter IV.
BlazBlue Portable and Guilty Gear

I’ve never been a huge fan of BlazBlue (or Guilty Gear, for that matter), but the fighting game franchise has been confirmed for the Sony PSP. It’ll be made available via UMD in March with the PlayStation Store digital download coming along two weeks later.
For your Guilty Gear fix, it sounds like it’s coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 in some form or another. Producer Daisuke Ishiwatari says that they have “full intention” to do so.
Unfortunately, Capcom classic Rival Schools will never make it to PSN or XBLA. Too bad. I really liked that game.
Tekken Movie
Curious what the Tekken movie looks like? I think Raven looks pretty crazy, but don’t expect much from this “film” about the Tournament of the Iron Fist. If you were disappointed by The Legend of Chun-Li, you’ll be appalled by Tekken I’m sure.
