SSF4:AE and MvC3 EVO 2K11 Video Highlights

What’s that? You weren’t glued to the EVO live stream over the weekend? That’s okay, I guess, since I’ve pulled together some of the highlights from the weekend’s action.
Starting on the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 side, 8-year-old Noah really stole the show by breaking the top 50 out of a field of 1,500 competitors. This kid has some crazy fighting game future:
And here is Justin Wong getting eliminated from MvC3, despite being the biggest favorite going into the tournament:
The MvC3 grand final between eventual winner Viscant and runner-up PR Rog was something to behold too. Here’s the second part of the grand final. How PR Rog manages to get the reset (coming out of the losers bracket) is amazing:
And what about the Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition tournament? It also had well over 1,000 competitors, but everyone was betting that Daigo “The Beast” Umehara (using Yun) would be able to three-peat this championship. And then, he ran into the charismatic Poongko of South Korea. Beast killer!
The SSFIV:AE grand finals came down to Latif (C. Viper) and Fuudo (Fei Long). I’ll let you watch the video, bearing in mind that Latif was the one who effectively eliminated Poongko, Justin Wong, Tokido and Daigo.
EVO Gaming Tournament 2011 Live Stream
The guys at Shoryuken have the livestream from Vegas this weekend, so check out the action for SSFIVE:AE, MvC3, Tekken 6, MK, and BlazBlue: CSII.
The finals are scheduled for Sunday from 10am to 9pm.
UPDATE: Viscant wins MvC3. Fuudo (Fei Long) wins SSFIV:AE. Daigo (Yun) finishes 4th, getting knocked out by Latif (Viper, 2nd). Poongko (Seth) rounds out top 3.
Comic-Con 2011: Street Fighter X Tekken Trailer
After that other teaser trailer, we’ve been itching for some more Street Fighter X Tekken action. And the San Diego Comic-Con delivered… with another teaser trailer.
While I’m not at all surprised to see King and Marduk, I am a little surprised to see Poison and Hugo. That’s some nice tapping into the Final Fight franchise, Capcom. Since Hugo already made a cameo in a SFIV stage background, it’s good to see the big lug actually get into the action.
Watch the whole trailer, because two more characters are added to the Capcom roster too. Bingo!
