Fighting Game News - December 8, 2009
Have a lot of fighting game news to share, so let’s get down to it.

As if you didn’t already have enough arcade sticks filling your living room, you could be due to get another one. Pictured above is the one that may accompany the launch of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom on the Nintendo Wii, possibly as part of a bundle not unlike the Tekken 6 bundle we got on the PS3 and Xbox 360. [NeoGAF]
Sticking with the Wii, you can get some Capcom fighting action in the meantime with the SNES version of Street Fighter Alpha 2. It’s being released on the Virtual Console this week and it’ll cost you 800 Nintendo Points to purchase. [1Up]

Get ready for Super Street Fighter IV early next year. We already know about T-Hawk and Deejay coming back, but now we’ve learned that they’ll be joined by Street Fighter III (and Final Fight) crew too. It has been confirmed that SSFIV will feature Adon, Cody, and Guy. They could very realistically be joined by Ibuki as well. [Kotaku and Shoryuken]
Speaking of Super Street Fighter IV, you can expect some new game modes too. They’ll have team battles (round robin elimination), endless modes. online lobbies (up to eight players), and the return of bonus stage. That’s right. Get ready to bust barrels and smash cars again. Sweet. [Joystiq]

Not satisfied with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe? Well, some art has been released showing what the next Mortal Kombat could have looked like if Midway didn’t kick the bucket. Looks fantastic, but MK has never been the same since they decided to go 3D. [Kotaku
Do you miss Killer Instinct? It's been a long time since we've seen a new entry in that franchise, but it seems that a new version is in the works. They are reportedly mashing out Killer Instinct 3 and it could be waiting for a launch with the motion-sensing Natal from Microsoft. We still don't know for sure whether Natal will be an add-on for the Xbox 360 or if it will be a separate console altogether. [VGD]
Fighting Games at E3 Expo 2009

So, were there fighting games at E3 Expo 2009 in Los Angeles this week? Of course there were! And even though I didn’t see SNK Playmore on the list of exhibitors, King of Fighters XII was indeed there in full force through the Ignition Entertainment booth. Nothing too out of the ordinary there, but there is a great article on fighting games at Futurelooks.com. Check it out for coverage on:
- Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
- Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny
- TMNT Smash-Up
- Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny
- Tekken 6
Pre-E3 2009 Fighting Game News
E3 Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center is just around the corner, so it’s only fitting that we round up all the fighting game news leading up to this monumental event. Let’s see what Capcom and SNK are up to these days.

Capcom
- Expect to see a regionalized version of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars at the show and it will likely be playable. The North American launch should be relatively soon, even if it’ll probably be perceived as Street Fighter for Dummies by some.
- Can’t get enough of the cheesy Street Fighter IV soundtrack? Then buy the two-disc OST for ten bucks.

SNK Playmore
- Looking at the floor plans for E3 2009, I don’t see any mention of SNK Playmore making an appearance. Does that mean we won’t be able to see anything new with King of Fighters XII?
- If you happen to be in the LA area, however, feel free to check out the KOF XII tournament on Saturday, May 30. It’ll be at Element, Hollywood.
- To help prepare you for the imminent launch of this terrific fighting game, check out the assortment of combo videos that have been uploaded to the ‘net. Just don’t expect to see any panties or nipples.
- It seems like SNK Playmore is still working on the cover art and they want your input.
- You can also expect to see King of Fighters XII DLC and console-specific modes. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will not be identical.
