Street Fighter News Update - New Year Edition
Shown above is the movie trailer for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, the upcoming live action Street Fighter movie starring Kristen Kreuk as Chun-Li. I didn’t have very high hopes for this movie before and those hopes are brought down even further with this trailer. Did you spot Vega? Without some of the characteristic costumes and styles, The Legend of Chun-Li doesn’t even look like Street Fighter. Jean-Claude Van Damme would be disappointed.
I had the opportunity to play Street Fighter IV the other day and I have to admit that it was pretty darn cool. The art style takes some getting used to, but if you’re a diehard Street Fighter fan like me, you’ll fall into line almost right away. The gameplay is familiar and does away with the parry system from Street Fighter III. The complete roster consists of 25 characters, including Sheng Long, Rose, El Fuerte, and more. Here’s where you can play Street Fighter IV.
Speaking of Street Fighter IV, the new box art has been revealed, including the special editions that’ll come with an anime DVD and a figurine. Xbox 360 owners get Crimson Viper, whereas PS3 gamers get a Ryu figurine.
In addition to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix shattering all sorts of sales records, it seems that Capcom has a few more Street Fighter goodies up its sleeve for us in 2009. The PlayStation Network for the PS3 (and maybe some for the PSP) could see a lot of Street Fighter, including titles from the Street Fighter Alpha series, the Street Fighter Movie game, and even X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Berserker barrage!
Ed Boon Explains Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
Some of the most pressing questions about this upcoming crossover fighting game were explained with the Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe FAQ, but there is still a lot that leaves our heads scratching. If there are no fatalities in MK vs. DC, will it still have the same level of brutality? How can the crossing over of the respective universes of Mortal Kombat and DC comics make any sense?
Check out the video above from Ed Boon, the Mortal Kombat kreator, as he addresses these issues and whatnot. Yes, he loves the word “whatnot” for whatever reason. Or whatnot. And yes, there is a decent amount of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe gameplay footage included as well. And whatnot.

Super Smash Bros Brawl Video Review Roundup

You may have heard about a little game that got released on the Nintendo Wii yesterday. What was it called again? Oh yeah. SUPER SMASH BROS BRAWL! I picked up a copy myself and my initial impressions are that they’ve kept pretty much everything you’ve come to expect from Super Smash Bros and stepped it up a notch or three. The character count is bigger. The graphics are prettier. And you get to play as Solid mother-f*cking Snake!
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is probably the best Wii game to be released to date and it doesn’t even make use of the so-called gimmicky controls. You might even enjoy it more by playing on a GameCube or Classic Controller. In either case, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. You could say it’s the new best fighting games king. Check out these three video reviews for further evidence of our never-ending praise for this fantastic fighting game.
