Tekken 6 Gameplay Video: Asuka vs Hwoarang

It’s inevitable that at least one game from the Tekken series will make it onto any list of the top 10 best fighting games of all-time. Speaking for myself, I really enjoyed Tekken 5 (also Dark Resurrection), largely because I thought the Raven character — who looks just like Blade, except slightly more ninja-fied — was totally bad-ass. As we anxiously await the arrival of the game’s successor, let’s have a look at the latest Tekken 6 gameplay video.

In the video above, you can check out the moves of Asuka as she takes on the Korean wonder known as Hwoarang. In terms of Tekken 6 gameplay, it looks to be pretty much what you’d expect from a Tekken game, so there really isn’t anything new in that department. You’ll still be punching and kicking as you strafe in 3D space. It’s a little hard to tell from this video, but the character models seem to have retained the same level of detail and lighting, but when you peek the background behind Asuka and Hwoarang, there seems to be quite a bit more detail than before, even if it is slightly blurry. You could say that it looks more realistic than before as well, maybe even prettier than Virtua Fighter 5.

Tekken 6 was released in Japanese arcades on November 26, 2007, but has yet to make an official debut on our side of the pond. They say that it is the first game to be released on Namco’s PlayStation 3-based arcade board. Plans currently call for a console release (PS3) sometime this year.

Street Fighter IV: First Video Coverage

It’s here. It’s time to go back to the basics. It’s time for a Hadouken, Shoryuken, and maybe even a Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku. It’s time for a Street Fighter IV…VIDEO!

Top 10 Fighters: Street Fighter II Isn’t Number One

A similar top 10 list was recently posted at FutureLooks, but that doesn’t mean that us fighting game fans can’t enjoy yet another take on the top 10 fighters of all-time. Stuttering Craig and Handsome Tom of ScrewAttack take their video-making antics to the genre of fighting games, describing what they believe to be the greatest.

Most of the list is pretty conventional, attacking the usual suspects like Mortal Kombat and Tekken, but you just may be surprised by the game that takes the number one spot. Here’s a teaser: it ain’t Street Fighter II. Heck, it’s not even one of the many Street Fighter 2 variants. No Championship Edition or Hyper Fighting. Blasphemy? Perhaps, but you should still check out the video above.

It’s a shame that they didn’t include any more obscure games like Primal Rage and Time Killers. Everyone already knows that Virtua Fighter 5 is awesome (especially now that it’s online with the Xbox 360).
