Mega Man in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Even before the system ditched the Revolution moniker in favor a name that sounds a little too phallic, the most highly anticipated Nintendo Wii game that had everyone buzzing was Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We were hoping that we’d be super smashing and brother brawling this holiday season, but Nintendo has delayed the release of the popular fighting game until early next year. They say that they’ve got some kinks to iron out and some changes to make; if it means that we get a more complete and ultimately more fun package as a result, then the wait will be worth it.
While characters like Pikachu and Luigi have been Smash Bros. veterans for some time now, the Wii rendition of the franchise introduces a few characters that we probably weren’t expecting in a Nintendo-developed fighter. From Little Mac to Sonic the Hedgehog, it seems like everyone is coming to the party. Heck, even Solid Snake is coming along. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like a certain Capcom icon is making an appearance.
As far as we know, Mega Man will not be included in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, squashing earlier rumors that the hadouken-learning blue dude would be smashing it up with Peach, Bowser, and the rest of the Smash Brothers crew. Keiji Inafune, who many credit to be the “father” of the Blue Bomber, has gone on the record to say:
Well, I really do love Super Smash Bros. It’s a great series…but, Nintendo hasn’t asked me yet if they can use Mega Man in their game. I’m still waiting…we have a little bit of time left, it’s not coming out for another few months. They might get around to asking us if we’d like to put Mega Man in Super Smash Bros. Maybe if somebody from Nintendo is listening to this podcast, they’ll give me a call.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Mega Man won’t make the cut, but the odds aren’t looking good. Even if he does make it, I seriously hope that they go with the old school Mega Man — pictured above… sort of — rather than the de-helmeted and funky F-Zero-ified renditions that they’ve been pushing out lately.

Godzilla Unleashed on the Wii
How’s this for the cheesiest commercial ever? From what I can gather, Godzilla Unleashed is basically a button-mashing bonanza involving some of your favorite Godzilla characters. It’ll be available for a variety of systems, but the Wii rendition looks to be the most physically involving. Flail your arms around like an idiot and pretend to breathe fire… right…. that sounds like a good idea. I’ll pass, thanks.
For a better sense of how the game plays, check out this official gameplay trailer. Yup, still looks lame. Anyone remember Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee for the GameCube? Yeah, getting Unleashed is just as bad.
Video: Soul Calibur Legends
I know. Soul Calibur Legends technically isn’t a fighting game, but neither is staring at Cassandra’s boobs. Namco Bandai is expanding the Soul Calibur series beyond the usual one-on-one fighting game genre with Soul Calibur Legends, destined for the Nintendo Wii.
Strangely, the trailer above lacks sound, but the one below will satisfy your aural needs.
